GETTING HITS >Intro

Getting Hits

By A. Duncan ©2001

After you've built your website and got it uploaded and running, you've got to let people know about it and get them to visit

Many people often fall into the mistake that all you have to do is publish on the web and the hits start rolling in. Unfortunately no-one will call unless they know you're there. But how do you do that and what are the best methods to getting your site noticed

What we're going to do is look at this in a logical pattern.

We'll begin by looking at some changes/additions you'll need to make to your site. We'll then move onto look at getting links from other related sites and special form of links called webrings which allow large groups of related sites to effectively link together. Also you may be able to indirectly get newsgroups and forums.

Next we'll discuss search engines and web directories. These are the places most people go to when looking for info on the web and will be valuable tools to getting your site noticed

We then look at putting adverts for your site on other people's site. You can do this for free with banner exchange schemes or if you want to spend your hard earned dosh you can pay for advertisements either to individual sites or advertising companies
