But you'll need to create links (called hyperlinks) to pages within your site (and elsewhere) for people to navigate round.
You can make text or image link to other pages, websites or even other places on the same page.
You can also create a link so people can send e-mail.
To link to other pages
To understand this make up 2 webpages and save them in the same folder. Open one up again in composer
Highlight a piece of text and either select the hyperlink icon or click insert ->link.
You will get one of these 2 boxes appearing. As you can see there is little between the older (4.x) and newer (6.x) link boxes
The text you selected should appear in (A)link text/source.
Either (B) type in the name of your target file (home.htm) or click choose file and browse for it. With 6.x select the URL relative to page location box
Then click OK.
The link will change colour and become underlined. Save the page and load it up in a browser. Hey presto you've made your first link
With images the same mechanism works. Just right click over your image and pick create link.. Follow the same instructions as above
To make a link to somewhere else on the same page
(like the (bottom) which will take you to the bottom of this site) You must first create an Anchor or target for the link.
Highlight the first few word or the image you are targeting and click edit -> target. (version 4.x has a target icon which speeds this up)
Give your anchor/target a name and then click OK.
Now select the place you want to make the link from.
Begin to create a hyperlink as before but before selecting a page you should see your anchor/target name in (C)Select a named target/anchor box (ensure the current page box on the right is ticked).
Click on this and click OK
To make a link to a target on another page
This is easy.
Set up your target as above and save and close the file. Open your other page and create a link to the target containing page as previously described. Only this time select your target that will apper in the (C)Select a named target box
To link to another Internet site
It's important that you have links within your own site but you'll also need at some point links to the wider WWW world.
You first must know the address of the target site or page
e.g.
our site is at www.fluffbucket.com
and this page's address is
www.fluffbucket.com/nsc/howtoset.htm
You can note this when browsing on from the explorer bar.
Before using a link as courtesy check with the owner that its okay (usually you can find an email link).
Highlight your link point and set up a link. This time enter in (B)Link to a page location.... box the full web address including the http://(e.g. http://www.fluffbucket.com)
To set up a email link
Highlight your link point and set as before. This time type in (B) Link to a page location.... box, the target email but prefixed with mailto: (e.g. mailto:faq@fluffbucket.com) Click OK. When someone clicks on this it should trigger their email program automatically
There are more links you can do but we'll deal with that later
